The Radiation Therapist is responsible for administering prescribed radiation treatments to patients with cancer and other conditions. This role works closely with oncologists and medical physicists to ensure accurate treatment delivery while prioritizing patient safety, comfort, and care.
Administer radiation therapy treatments as prescribed by radiation oncologists
Operate and maintain radiation therapy equipment (LINAC, CT simulators)
Position patients accurately and ensure proper immobilization for treatment
Monitor patients during treatment and respond to any adverse reactions
Maintain detailed treatment records and documentation
Follow strict radiation safety protocols and regulatory standards
Collaborate with oncologists, dosimetrists, and healthcare teams
Educate patients on treatment procedures and side effects
Perform routine quality assurance checks on equipment
Bachelor’s Degree in Radiation Therapy or related field
Certification and licensure as a Radiation Therapist (ARRT or equivalent)
1–3 years of experience in radiation therapy (preferred)
Knowledge of radiation therapy techniques and oncology care
Attention to detail and precision
Patient care and communication skills
Technical proficiency with radiation equipment
Safety and compliance awareness
Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
Hospitals, cancer treatment centers, or oncology clinics
Controlled clinical environment with radiation safety measures
Day shifts with occasional extended hours
Experience with advanced radiation technologies (IMRT, IGRT, VMAT)
Familiarity with treatment planning systems
Experience with EMR and oncology information systems
