The Inpatient Psych Therapist provides direct therapeutic services to patients within an inpatient psychiatric or mental health setting. This includes psychosocial assessments, individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, treatment planning, and care coordination in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. The therapist plays a key role in patient stabilization and recovery.
Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions (CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care, etc.) in individual and group settings.
Lead daily therapeutic groups focused on coping skills, emotional regulation, and psychoeducation.
Participate in daily treatment team meetings with psychiatrists, nurses, and case managers.
Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support as needed.
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with hospital and legal standards.
Collaborate with families and community resources for discharge planning and aftercare support.
Ensure patient safety while promoting a therapeutic and respectful care environment.
Education: Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field.
Licensure: LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or equivalent license (or license-eligible, as required by state).
Experience: 1–2 years of experience in psychiatric, behavioral health, or inpatient mental health setting preferred.
Strong knowledge of psychiatric diagnoses, therapeutic modalities, and crisis intervention.
Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment.
