Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
Job Summary: As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), you will work under the supervision of licensed occupational therapists to help individuals with injuries, disabilities, or other health conditions regain their independence through therapeutic activities. Your role will involve carrying out treatment plans, assessing progress, and providing support to clients in various settings.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Implement occupational therapy programs designed by licensed therapists.
2. Assist clients with therapeutic exercises and activities.
3. Monitor and document client progress and feedback to the therapist.
4. Provide support and encouragement to clients during therapy sessions.
5. Teach clients how to use adaptive equipment and assistive devices.
6. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for clients.
7. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with clients.
8. Stay up-to-date on the latest research and techniques in occupational therapy.
9. Participate in team meetings and case conferences to discuss client progress.
10. Follow all legal and ethical guidelines in the practice of occupational therapy.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
2. Certification as a COTA from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
3. State licensure or eligibility for licensure as a COTA.
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
6. Compassion and empathy for clients facing physical or mental challenges.
7. Attention to detail and organizational skills.
8. Physical stamina to assist clients with mobility and exercises.
9. Flexibility and adaptability to different client needs and settings.
