The School-Based Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) evaluates, diagnoses, and treats speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders in children from pre-K to high school. Working as part of the educational team, the SLP supports students’ academic, social, and emotional development by providing individualized therapy and collaborating with teachers and parents.
Conduct comprehensive speech and language evaluations for students referred by teachers or parents
Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs
Provide direct and consultative speech-language therapy services
Collaborate with teachers, school psychologists, counselors, and families to support student success
Document progress, maintain accurate records, and participate in IEP and parent meetings
Educate staff and families on communication strategies to use in the classroom and at home
Comply with federal, state, and school district regulations (e.g., IDEA, FAPE)
Promote inclusive education practices and communication accessibility for all learners
Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
Valid state SLP license and ASHA CCC-SLP certification (or CFY eligible)
Experience with pediatric or school-based populations preferred
Strong understanding of developmental milestones, language acquisition, and behavioral strategies
Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills
